Carmela Rotundo has been involved in the field of Intellectual Property since 1994 and since 2010 she is has worked as a Trademark Attorney at Metroconsult. She offers consulting services to national and international clients on trademark and design law, in particular on trademark and design availability searches, oppositions, and drafting of responses to objections on trademarks before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), recordal of assignments and licenses of trademarks, as well as the management of agreements and extrajudicial transactions in Italy and abroad. She also assists her clients in domain name issues.

Carmela is a trademark and design attorney before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM); she is also an IP Consultant before the Court of Milan, expert in re-assignment procedures concerning domains, and a Mediator in Civil and Commercial Disputes.

Education and professional experiences

Before joining Metroconsult, Carmela worked for leading national and international IP consulting firms at both national and international level (in particular, in the US, Italy, France, and Switzerland).
She is the author of numerous publications on Intellectual Property matters.

Carmela is a member of well-known IP Associations including INTA (International Trademark Association), AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), as well as LES (Licensing Executives Society). She was a member of the “INTA Bulletin” Committee (2014-2015), Board Member of Italian Patent and Trademark Attorney’s Institute (2016-2019), and chair of the INTA sub-committee on “Famous and Well-Known Marks Registries”. She is currently a member of the INTA ADR Committee and Member of the INTA Panel of Trademark Mediators.

She holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property (trademarks and designs) from CEIPI, Robert Schuman University, Strasbourg, France, and a Master’s degree in International Commerce from Ecole Solvay, Brussels, Belgium.

She is fluent in English, German, and French and has a basic knowledge of Dutch and Spanish.
