Carmela Rotundo has been involved in the field of Intellectual Property since 1994 and since 2010 she is has worked as a Trademark Attorney at Metroconsult. She offers consulting services to national and international clients on trademark and design law, in particular on trademark and design availability searches, oppositions, drafting of responses to objections and invalidity and revocation actions before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), recordal of assignments and licenses of trademarks, as well as the management of agreements and extrajudicial transactions in Italy and abroad. She also assists her clients in domain name issues. Carmela serves as a mediator and provides assistance to her clients during mediation proceedings.
Carmela is a registered trademark and design attorney at both the national and European levels, listed on the official register since 2000; she is also an IP Consultant before the Court of Milan, expert in re-assignment procedures concerning domains, and from 2015 a Mediator in Civil and Commercial Disputes before the Italian Ministry of Justice. As of January 1, 2026, she has also been appointed as a mediator and accredited expert at the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Center (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) for the subsequent five-year term.

Education and professional experiences
Before joining Metroconsult, Carmela worked for leading national and international IP consulting firms at both national and international level (in particular, in the US, Italy, France, and Switzerland).
She is the author of numerous publications on Intellectual Property matters.
Carmela is a member of well-known IP Associations including INTA (International Trademark Association), AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), as well as LES (Licensing Executives Society).
She holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property (trademarks and designs) from CEIPI, Robert Schuman University, Strasbourg, France, and a Master’s degree in International Commerce from Ecole Solvay, Brussels, Belgium.
She is fluent in English, German, and French and has a basic knowledge of Dutch and Spanish.
